Some of them will be pretty easy to customized and there are too so difficult. Here is the 2 top free blog service that you can choose to make a serious blogging or just for fun.

First ask yourself. You want a blog for what? For writing about your life, Or just to share something, or you want to be a professional blogger? After a long experience with this 2 service then in my mind i find a purpose for this.
1. I want to be a full blogger.
I suggest you to learning about wordpress. It's pretty damn good if you want to be a full blogger. There are a lot of feature that always given by their development team
to make your blog even better. You need to learn all about Wordpress. just register to their free or premium service. You can even install the wordpress to your own blog hosting using wordpress.org. There are much resource that you can search in google to learn about wordpress. I wont teach you about wordpress since my experience is too less with them.
2. I just want to learn how to blogging.
Then blogger or blogspot.com is one of the best service for this. very, very, very easy to customize. Though, you still need a litle basic HTML to make your blog looking perfect. You need to have a gmail account then you already have the free service that offering by google such as free blog at blogspot.com. You can even made your blog have the own domain. Very easy for me. Then after that, a long time, you can made a professional blog using your free blog.
Alright that's all i want to share. For me now, i still choose blogspot blog is very easy to configure. I still have a wordpress blog, though.
